My family used to have impatiens like in the second photo.
Awesome that you caught the butterfly on the rose.
What are the ruffled lilac color flowers in the next to the last shot in the post? They almost look like azaleas without the spots, but I've never seen azaleas that shade. Nor do they normally grow on that kind of bush. Hmm...
The butterfly was sheer luck. I had just photographed the rose when it flew up and landed there. I couldn't believe it. The second photo is actually a periwinkle which do look very similar to impatiens. The other flowers I have no idea about but I can find out from the homeowner.
Periwinkles! That explains why the periwinkle blue ones in another photo from the series look so similar. I appreciate learning about those other flowers (and what about the one that looks like a pink chenille pom pom in the first shot?), if it's not too much trouble for you.
I love the first one!

The pom pom flower is a ground cover. It's a variety of Mimosa.
