Hiking To Kiwanis Cabin
On our second, and certainly more adventurous journey into the Sandia Mountains we did some hiking. After taking the tram up the mountain we first decided to hike to Kiwanis Cabin. The "cabin" was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 30's. The stone cabin is visible on its prominent cliff from the tram station. The hike was mildly strenuous, at least for those of us that are not in the best physical condition. Upon reaching the cabin I was quite dizzy from the strain and the altitude and had to sit for about ten minutes. The views were amazing and any amount of effort was worth the payoff.
