Flora Of Walt Disney World

Our first stop is Hollywood Studios outside of Indiana Jones where this wonderful cotton-like stuff was blooming on a tree.  The trunk of the tree is covered in thorns as seen in the second picture.  I believe it is a silk cotton tree.

The next four pictures are from the Animal Kingdom.  The first two are from the wandering paths of Maharajah Jungle Trek (one of my favorite photo locations).  The second two are from the Oasis.

Off to EPCOT where we find some succulents and a sunflower.

Port Orleans Riverside offers us these beautiful flowers and some palmetto in bloom.

And finally a little something from the wilds of Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom.

Tom Sawyer Island Poster

Tom Sawyer Island Poster I created by compositing the two photos below and then doing some digital painting and other adjustments.  I had tried a version that had a raft in it as well but it just wasn't working out the way I wanted.

Mr. Dairy Goods

From one of my favorite Walt Disney World shows ever, the Kitchen Kabaret.

The Magic Kingdom's Penny Arcade before it's mid-nineties remodel to the Main Street Athletic Club.

Temple

I drew this in the early 80's probably shortly after my first trip to EPCOT.  It was inspired by the Mexico pavilion with fireworks above it.

Journey Into Imagination

I'm not sure what year I drew this.  I'm thinking it was late 80's.

Studio Main Entrance Party Poster

I drew this poster back in 1994 to hang in the cast member area of the main entrance at the Disney-MGM Studios to advertise an upcoming area party.

The Monkey's Uncle

I like it when different passions of mine cross over into each other.  In 1993 amid a particularly busy time making music videos, we decided to make a video for Annette Funicello's song "The Monkey's Uncle" from the film of the same name.  Since I was the only person familiar with the song I was elected to be Annette.  To maintain the cross dressing theme, friends Tracie and Barbie lip synced the backing vocals by the Beach Boys.  In 2009 I created a graphic which would be like a 45RPM record cover.

The monkey graphic was inspired by the Barrel of Monkeys toy.

A screenshot of me as Annette.

Off To The Magic Kingdom, Again

I'm beginning to feel like I'm stuck in pre-1982 Walt Disney World and the Magic Kingdom is the only theme park around.  It seems forever since I've visited another park.

My sister and her family are visiting from Iowa.  Today is both my nephew Nickolas and my birthdays.  To celebrate this occasion I am once again at the Magic Kingdom today.  It's Nickolas' first trip Disney and my niece Mya's second trip.  It should be a fun day assuming that no one dies from the heat.  Perhaps I'll have some stories to relate when this is all over.

Red Shirt Day At The Magic Kingdom

Today is the annual red shirt pilgrimage to the Magic Kingdom.  Sadly my usual group of friends all have other obligations this year and won't be attending.  We've had some great times in the past.  Nick and I will be hanging out with some other friends this year which will hopefully turn out to be an acceptable substitute.  Perhaps we'll get some fun pictures to post later this week.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

Continuing with the extinct Disney attractions, today is an image I created for the classic submarine ride, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

Spaceship Earth

The great texture of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT provides infinite possibilities for art.  Two of these would make great desktop backgrounds.

Skyway To Tomorrowland

I created this to commemorate the recently demolished Fantasyland Skyway Station at the Magic Kingdom.  Below is a second picture I toyed with as well.

Tomorrowland

You can stare into the future, but please don't stare into the sun!  Here we actually stare into the past's version of the future since this view hasn't been available since about 1994.

Canada Travel Poster

I actually had another image for a second poster for Canada but decided not to use it.  It was very similar to this one but somehow just didn't work as well.

Cinderella Castle

Very happy with the way this one turned out. When small it almost still looks like a photo but once enlarged the differences are clear.  I'd thought about doing some weird color stuff with this the way I did with the Big Thunder picture from a few days ago, but I thought it might bring back bad memories of that Pepto Bismol castle from the 25th Anniversary.
